What Make Ubah Different

Ubah Educational Services is a unique program designed to increase the literacy, math and living skills of members of the Somali community in Minneapolis.

Adults age 20 and older are placed in our free classes based on their literacy level. Pre-literacy, basic literacy and proficient literacy classes are held concurrently. Classes are taught by qualified bi-lingual Somalis. Each student studies English as a Second Language (ESL), math and living skills. Progress and completion of the program is determined for each student on an individual basis. Computer training is also given each week.

The program is housed in the Urban League building at 2201 Blaisdell Ave. South in Minneapolis. Classes are held five days a week from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. Transportation services are being planned.

We have a wonderful program for Somali high school students in grades 9 through 12 in the summer. We are offering classes on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to help Somali students pass the Basic Standard Test, and to help their educational progress in general.
